On December 10, about 200 Congolese protestors and supporters rallied outside of the White House, denoucing the results of a recent presidental election between current President Joseph Kabila and former Prime Minister Etienne Tshiekedi. The protest was organized by Friends of the Congo, an organization that works in partnership with Congolese to bring about peaceful and lasting change in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Current President, Joseph Kabila was declared the winner, on The elections have been marred by violence and allegations of corruptions. For instance, the Carter Center, a US election monitoring group said stated that there was a turnout of more than 100 percent in Kabila’s home region and the results from more than 2,000 polling stations in Kinisha had disappeared suggest that there were “serious irregularities,”.
