First Friday Downtown! Greensboro’s Heart Giveaway

imageTonight is FIRST FRIDAY! and Greensboro’s Heart is giving away 3 pairs of tickets to the opening Performance of ALICE! on the campus of UNCG. Submit your best photos of November’s First Friday to be eligible to win the tickets.

ALICE! (art work done by Nick Swift) is the hip-hop and 100% eConnected, version of Alice in Wonderland at the University of Greensboro. The play is an original adaptation by Jim Wren, UNCG Theater faculty member and will open Saturday November 13 at 2:00pm.

There are tons of events happening downtown this Friday.  Make sure you check out one of these events:

 Greensboro Cultural Center
 The cultural hub of Greensboro, there will be events going on in 200 North Davie Street all night long.  An opening reception at CVA; Meet the Kelly O’Briant at Greenhill Center for NC Art;  Create mosaics with the African American Atelier; take Tango lessons with the Greensboro Ballet.  There is also African Dance with Wesley Williams until the wee hours in the morning. 

 

 First Friday Indie Market
The First Friday Indie Market is an open Air Market of handmade and vintage items, with a little music thrown in for shopping pleasure. Tonight’s band is Firelight Saga. This month 51 vendors will be featured at the market which is located on the corner of South Elm and MLK (4-9pm).  For more information about vendors check out the First Friday Indie Market Blog. 

Ampleside Gallery
The building at 528 S. Elm St. is featuring an exhibition of black and white photography by renowned German/American photographer Fred Stein.  The exhibition includes Beautifully composed urban scenes of Paris and New York from the 1930s to the 1960s as well as portraits of numerous famous personalities of the time including Albert Einstein.
